The Picture’s Clear at Woolshops

Halifax Town Centre

An ‘open street’ style shopping centre situated in the heart of Halifax town centre now boasts a high performance surveillance system supplied by CCTV and Access Control specialist, Quadrant Video Systems.

The multi-functional system uses a mix of 16 static, P/T/Z and dome colour cameras to provide Woolshops Shopping Centre with comprehensive surveillance coverage of it’s main shopping streets, car parks, delivery areas and management suite entrance.

High resolution image recording of the centre’s 34 retail premises is secured via a Tecton Drax17 duplex multiplexer, onto a Panasonic S-VHS time-lapse recorder. Surveillance both overtly and covertly of the centre’s 500 capacity surface and underground car parks allows centre management to detect and assist with motorists problems, such as lost or jammed car parking tickets and to curb parking fraud and car theft. Victoria Mitchell, Woolshops centre manager said, “Quadrants CCTV system helps us better manage the entire site, enabling us to track incidents and verify & quickly remedy any variety of problems.”

Utilising CCTV coverage of the centre’s delivery yards, unauthorised traffic and illegal parking are kept to a minimum and in the case of the centre’s essential ‘cash run’s’, all routes are kept in sharp focus.

Operated in-conjunction with the town centre police’s ‘Shock-wave’ and retailers ‘Shop-link’ initiatives, the centre plays an active roll in the detection and reduction of shoplifting and vandalism.

Securing 24 hour protection, state of the art video transmission technology connects the centre to a ‘remote’ CCTV verification and monitoring station, ensuring a comprehensive ‘out of hours’ response to any alarm triggered incidents.
