Quadrant surveillance helps GNER deliver a more secure railway
For over 150 years, Britain’s railway network has been the backbone of the country’s transport system. In more recent times increasing competition has forced modernisation and a constant evolvement of a thriving transport network. Capitalising on an increasingly choked road system, the railway network has positioned itself as a modern, quick and convenient solution for business and social travellers. Underlining this, passenger numbers on Britain’s largest long-distance rail route, Leeds to London, have grown by thirty percent over the last two years. This recent renaissance in passenger usage has led to further development right across the travel experience, with customers now enjoying improved facilities at refurbished and redeveloped stations. As customer numbers swell, human traffic flow through the network has increased. This rise in numbers, possible increased health and safety risk, and greater opportunity for criminal activity, is addressed in the risk assessment outlined in the rail provider’s new franchise agreements. |
