The requirement to tackle anti-social behaviour and criminal activity in our towns and cities is being effectively fought utilising a mix of conventional means and array of high-tech electronic systems. Underlining this modern approach, the benefits to be gained from the operation of public space, CCTV surveillance systems are positively experienced on a daily basis, throughout the length and breadth of the UK.

Quadrant Video Systems is consistently at the forefront of these technological advances and reinforcing this, has recently completed an installation in the Hockwell Ring area of Luton using the new Viseum 'intelligent' CCTV surveillance camera.

Intelligent upgrade path
Despite the undoubted success of the existing CCTV scheme, Luton Borough Council are not alone in their wish to drive down operating costs whilst maintaining system effectiveness. It is not surprising therefore, that they were prepared to take a closer look at the Viseum offering, a new camera which offers an unmanned intelligent CCTV camera technology that watches all that is going on around it, but only takes notice when something unusual happens.

Quadrant Video Systems Plc, who have for many years been responsible for installing and maintaining cameras on behalf of the council, were keen for the them to test the effectiveness of the Viseum product. Quadrant believed it offered a potential upgrade path for their existing cameras, to effectively achieving the council's long-term objectives, whilst saving the authority valuable operating costs.
